Children on Sundays
Children are encouraged to participate in the first 15 minutes of the main Sunday meeting when we worship together as a church and share family news. At around 10:45am the children and youth leave the main meeting room to join their own groups. These groups are largely led by trained volunteers, identified by brightly coloured shirts with the SCF logo (colour designates the group which they lead). We follow a bible-based curriculum and aim to include a range of age appropriate activities that incorporate different learning styles. Fun, friendship and discipleship go hand in hand. There are 5 age groups and the group your child or young person will attend is determined by the school year group they are in:
• Joiners – Birth and preschool age (leaders wear yellow shirts)
• Explorers – Nursery to Reception (leaders wear green shirts)
• Seekers – Year 1 and Year 2 (leaders wear blue shirts)
• United – Year 3 to Year 6 (leaders wear red shirts)
• Surround – Year 7 to Year 11 (leaders wear grey shirts)
From time to time we have an all-age service to allow us to be together as a whole church. This service is dynamic and interactive with elements for every age group within the church.
Safeguarding is a priority for SCF. Our safeguarding officer is Steve Cox and deputy safeguarding officer is Leyla Wilkins.
School years 1 & 2
Mondays 4:00 pm – 5:15 pm (Term time only)
An after-school group for year 1 and year 2 children with an emphasis on developing friendships and having fun. Free play allows children to unwind after their busy day. Then we sit together to share a drink, small snack and share the news of the week before a teaching slot that builds on the topic taught on Sunday. We use songs, crafts, drama and challenges to focus on how what we learn at SCF can impact our life. We ask for a voluntary contribution of 50p per session.

First Monday of the month 9:30 am – 10:30 am
An informal drop-in group where parents and carers will have opportunity to meet with NHS health visiting and infant feeding teams. A relaxed café style group where you can ask questions about all aspects of feeding (breast or bottle), starting solid food, returning to work, sleep and other baby and toddler-related issues. We meet in the Children’s room (access via entrance opposite the park play area). Siblings welcome and refreshments provided.
School years 3-6
Fridays 6:15 pm – 7:45 pm (Term time only)
An early evening group where children in school years 3-6 can have fun, learn and build friendships. We start with free time; children can play games, take part in craft activities and enjoy themselves. We then sit together to talk about how the week has been and spend some time in prayer. After a team activity and refreshments, there is usually time for a short interactive teaching on a theme or Bible story – this often links to what the United Sunday group are going through. This group is free but we often go on trips, for example swimming at the end of term.

United Weekend Away
Every year the United group as a whole (Friday and Sunday) spend a weekend together away from church. This is a time for fun, friendship and learning and a highlight of the children’s year with us. Some of our past themes include ‘Jesus is our superhero’ and ‘God’s great adventure’.
